Terms of Use

1. Agreement to these terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Krin mobile application or website at krinapp.com (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf, or that you are using the Service in a jurisdiction where you may form a binding contract at your age.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Krin. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement. Users under 13 are not permitted and should not attempt to create an account or use the Service.

Krin is currently available for use in Canada and the United States. We reserve the right to restrict access from other jurisdictions.

3. Your account

Krin uses anonymous authentication — you do not need to provide an email address or create a password to use the app. A random user ID is generated automatically when you first open the app.

You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your anonymous account. Do not share your device with others if you want your task data to remain private.

You may delete your account at any time from the You → Delete Account screen. Deletion is immediate and permanently removes all your data from our systems.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use Krin only for its intended purpose: organizing your schoolwork and academic tasks. You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
• Use the Service to submit, store, or transmit material that is illegal, offensive, or violates another person's rights.
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service.
• Impersonate another person or entity.

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service if you violate these Terms.

5. Krin Premium subscription

What's included

Krin offers a free tier and a Premium tier. Premium includes additional features such as the Week View and Day Drill-Down. The specific features included in each tier may change over time — we'll communicate any material changes in-app.

Free trial

New users receive a 30-day free trial of Krin Premium. No payment card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial period, you will need to subscribe to continue accessing Premium features. The free tier remains available indefinitely at no cost.

Pricing and billing

Krin Premium is billed as a recurring subscription. Pricing is displayed in the app at the time of purchase and is subject to change with advance notice. Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to those platforms' billing terms.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store or Google Play settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partially used subscription periods except where required by applicable law.

Refunds

Refund requests for App Store purchases must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Refund requests for Google Play purchases must be submitted through Google Play. Krin App Inc. does not process refunds directly.

6. Intellectual property

The Krin app, website, logo, design, and all associated content are owned by Krin App Inc. and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Your task data (the content you enter) belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership over it. See our Privacy Policy for details on how it is handled.

7. AI-generated content

Krin uses Anthropic's Claude AI to parse assignment information from photos and text you provide. The AI may occasionally misread or misclassify content. You are responsible for verifying that parsed task information is accurate before relying on it for academic deadlines. Krin is a productivity aid and does not replace your own judgment.

By submitting photos or text to the app, you grant Krin a limited right to process that content through our AI service for the purpose of generating task information for you. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. KRIN APP INC. DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

We are not responsible for missed academic deadlines, incorrect task information, or any other consequences arising from your use of or reliance on the Service.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KRIN APP INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or CAD $10, whichever is greater.

10. Third-party services

Krin integrates with third-party services including Supabase, Anthropic, RevenueCat, PostHog, Sentry, and Expo. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. Krin App Inc. is not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll notify you via an in-app message at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
